Visual Studio 2017 - Git failed with fatal error

After a TFS migration to VSTS, I had a few issues related to Git within Visual Studio 2017.

When I was trying to do anything with Git I was being prompted with the following error:

Git failed with a fatal error. fatal: unable to access ‘https://organization.visualtudio.com port 443: Timed out’

This problem was just happening with VS 2017

VS 2017 has a few updates, depending on the updating you are, the fix can be different. Follow some fixes I found and used to made it work in a few different VS versions. You may don’t need to apply...

TFVC - Unmapping a workspace using tf.exe

Problem: Unmapping a workspace.

It’s possible to do this using visual studio, but I had to do via command line because visual studio wasn’t available to me.

I used a command line utility called tf.exe. This utility can be found on different paths depending on the version of visual studio installed. Here are some versions:

VS 2017 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017<EDITION>\Common7\IDE\CommonExtensions\Microsoft\TeamFoundation\Team Explorer

VS 2013 / 2015 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio <version>\Common7\IDE</version>

You can see the commands available through this utility by running the tf command or, more specifically, the problem that we solve by...

Last week, I was at Univem to give a lecture about automation, agile methods and devops in mobile projects. The title was “Agile practices in mobile projects”.

This was my first presentation with this title and I liked the result.

The storytelling was a real story, using myself as an example. I started talking about how I usually did stuff and how I do now. In parallel I was showing the benefits of change and improve our work.

Check out the slides that I used in this presentation:

See you...

Some steps for a happy tfs migration

After some tfs migrations, you become more confident in various aspects. There are people passing for things that you probably already passed. So, why not help those people?

The main goal of this post is to become a live doc and receive updates and fixes. If you want to help, please feel free to leave comments.
Connecting vs2010 on vsts or tfs2017

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I had to do some tests to ensure that I could connect Visual Studio 2010 to VSTS or TFS 2017. I am currently working as an ALM consultant, so it’s not uncommon to find this kind of scenario at companies.

It wasn’t difficult, I just searched on the internet about that and I found some clues that help to resolve the problem. Basically, I just had to install the Visual Studio SP 1 and a Visual Studio SP 1 KB.

After that, everything was working. So, now, the client can connect to their tfs2017 using...

Some tips to make your VSTS build runs faster

Most of these tips I found on internet (references) and a few of them I discovered doind some tests.

Incremental build

In a continuous integration build, I think it’s ok to execute incremental builds.
Probably, from all the tips, this will be the one that will cause the biggest impact on your build execution time.
On VSTS, you can enable incremental build by unchecking the clean configuration like the image below:

If you got interested to know more about incremental build, take a look at these links:

<a...

Fala pessoal, tudo bom?

OFF TOPIC – METAS PARA 2016

E aê, pessoal! Tudo bom?

TACO CLI - #3 - Não perca tempo configurando ambiente, use taco install-reqs

Java, android, visual studio, xcode, etc....
